Jean-Baptiste Brueder French, b. 1996

Overview

BOOK A STUDIO VISIT  KEEP ME UPDATED ON NEW ARTWORKS

Jean-Baptiste is a French artist currently based in Brussels, he graduated with a masters degree from La Cambre in 2021.

Marked by the architectural diversity of Brussels, he is attracted by its continuous and incessant transformation. As much in the detail of the material as in its overall structure, he is looking for forms of fragility present in architecture.

Jean-Baptiste adds to the direct inspiration of the Brussels Genius Loci, a pictorial assimilation of archive images of architects' plans, ancient frescoes, heritage sites of different origins.

In an in situ relationship, he borrows fragments of architecture that he reproduces and integrates into his sculptures. Window frames, supporting structures, cornices, low reliefs, are all elements that characterise his desire to examine architecture, to break it down, to look at it from the inside and to its a priori immutable form.

Recent exhibitions include: Grège Gallery (2022), Moonens Foundation (2022) and POELP (2022) in Brussels.
