Gabrielle Mogenet French, b. 1997

Overview
To me, the party is a human manifestation overflowing with energy, stimulating both the body and the imagination. The party is a sensitive phenomenon I feel very intimate with and strongly acts on my perception of reality. I feel very intimate with. It propels me into abstract, and sometimes «eruptive», mental images. I seek to recreate these visual eruptions in the painting and to generate their different degrees of energies and variations through the body gesture.

Gabrielle began her career by studying textile design at Ensad (2017-2019) in Paris. This first part of her studies allowed her to acquire a taste for experimenting with textiles as an autonomous means of expression. Nurturing a strong interest in color and drawing, Gabrielle develops a fascination for shapes vocabularies and places importance on building a strong graphic identity in most of her projects. Passionate about music, it is also during this textile curriculum that synesthesia and musical notation begin to appear in her work.

In 2019, she leaves for an Erasmus exchange in Brussels and joins the painting section of La Cambre, where she then pursues her Master’s degree. Initially introduced to design, this training in painting marks a turning point in her work, and shifts her artistic approach towards questionings related to the notion of fantasy, of mental images governed by the experience of listening. Throught this workshop, Gabrielle is confronted with the full power of the large format, the notion of form and benefits from a great flexibility in the development of her research. Painting allows her to experiment with the retranscription of euphoria on a large scale and the spatialization of it, conveyed by the desire to realize 360° paintings.

Graduated in June 2022 from La Cambre in visual arts, Gabrielle pursues today her artistic practice as a painter and visual artist.
