Meet Martin Boissard, who has his studio at DEMAIN Studios (Sablon).

 

Steeped in the culture of skateboarding, which he has been practicing for over 15 years, Martin Boissard has an alternative vision of the environment and of urban furniture as a potential playground.

 

The first stage of his pictorial practice thus consists in exploring urban space. Wandering around, searching for new spots to discover new spaces, often off the beaten track.

This leads him to take numerous photographs of vandalized walls, decrepit walls, construction, crumpled metal sheets, or any other flat surface that echoes the flatness of the painter's canvas.

 

This obsessive work leads him to a veritable photographic census of what he calls the “pictorial accidents” that punctuate the streets he has walked.

These different subjects enable him to approach painting in all its diversity, drawing on artistic and pictorial currents as diverse as they are varied. For example, a wall showing graffiti erased by a layer of paint different from its original color.
