We’re excited to team up with Roméo Elvis for BXL POP NAÏF, an exhibition curated by the artist himself! Known for his music, Roméo brings his passion for art to DEMAIN STUDIOS, highlighting the bold, spontaneous spirit of Brussels through a selection of diverse and local creatives."I am Roméo Elvis. I am Belgian and I work in the music industry. Music has changed my life, but my first passion remains drawing.Demain invited me to curate an exhibition where I bring together a diverse group of Brussels creatives, from recent graduates to art directors, singers, sculptors, painters, jewellers... Through this process of selecting artists I discovered what I really wanted to highlight: colours, spontaneity in the approach, free from preconceptions, bref, the spirit of BXL. Like the artists, the art we show is multifaceted. What connects us is the shared embrace of naivety."PARTICIPATING ARTISTSRoméo Elvis and Diana Bitar, Juliette Castay, Ethel Coppieters, EKAYYNE, Léo Gillet, Matthieu Livrieri, Alec Palaz.QUESTIONS?Reach out to the team via info@demainart.com or +32 472 12 02 02 (Florence Derck)

Sofie Steegen
Sofie Steegen is a ceramic sculptor and painter based in Ghent. Her work spans ceramic tile paintings and bas-reliefs, where form and color emerge through an intuitive dialogue with her materials. Sofie draws inspiration from eclectic sources, ranging from historical artifacts to whimsical trinkets, often infused with a sense of innocence and playfulness. Her artistic universe is rooted in themes of eroticism, Greek mythology, and the natural world.
In her bas-reliefs, she introduces seemingly naïve characters into scenes that evoke a Libertine spirit. Yet, beneath the surface, ambiguity reigns. The nude body takes center stage, and the boundaries between man and woman, human and animal, begin to dissolve, inviting the viewer into a space of uncertainty and curiosity.
Her recent body of work, the “Marseille Series,” features sculptural vases shaped by a year she spent living and working in Marseille. The spirit of the South, its warmth, sensuality, and sun-soaked charm, permeates the collection.
